Tierschutz – Lanta Animal Welfare

Im November/Dezember 2015 ging unsere Reise nach Thailand. Bangkok, Phuket und danach spontan die Inseln erkunden.
Wir kennen Südostasien und wissen, dass dort die Situation mit Straßenhunden und –katzen schon recht extrem ist. Die Tiere sind so gut wie immer sehr sehr zutraulich und ringen nach Zuneigung.
Streicheleinheiten oder Futter – die Tiere sind wirklich dankbar und freuen sich über jegliche Art von Aufmerksamkeit von netten Menschen.

In November/December 2015 we traveled to Thailand. Our journey led us to Bangkok and Phuket and after that, we wanted to explore some islands.
We know southeast Asia and the situation with the street dogs and cats. Mostly the animals are very trusting and search for affection. Cuddles or some food – the animals are so thankful and are really pleased about every kind of loved attention and nice people.

So führte uns die Reise nach Koh Lanta. Die Insel liegt im Südwesten Thailands und bietet unendlich lange Strände und wunderschöne Sonnenuntergänge.
Auf verschiedensten Blogs sind wir dann auf Berichte über Lanta Animal Welfare gestoßen und als große Tierfreunde war es natürlich klar, dass wir am nächsten Tag gleich ein Moped mieten und die Organisation besuchen.
Mit 2 Futtersäcken im Gepäck, als kleine Geste und Hilfe, haben wir uns dann auf den Weg gemacht.

So the journey took us to Koh Lanta. The island is located in the southwest of Thailand and offers a wide range of long beaches and beautiful sunsets.

On different Blogs we have found some reports about Lanta Animal Welfare and as we are great animal friends and lovers, it was clear, that we will meet a scooter to visit the organization the next day!

With 2 bags of food on our scooter, as a small help to feed the dogs, we took our way to LAW.

WALK THE DOGS

Es gibt dort die tolle Möglichkeit, einen Hund auszuführen.
Das war natürlich keine Frage – denn dort angekommen haben wir uns gleich dazu entschieden mit einem Hund spazieren zu gehen.

Die Betreuer erklären dann genau wie der Hund sich verhält, wo man spazieren gehen kann (am Fluss oder Strand) und auf was man beim jeweiligen Hund achten muss.

Dann bekamen wir Jude (wir sind uns beim Namen nicht mehr ganz sicher).

Er ist blind und heute hat er ein schönes zu Hause in UK, denn er wurde adoptiert.

Wir hatten viel Spaß mit ihm, er war unglaublich zutraulich und hat sich über Abwechslung gefreut.

WALK THE DOGS

At LAW you have the great possibility, to take dogs for a walk.

No doubt –  it was clear for us, to first go for a walk with a dog.

The volunteers there, explain you clearly how the behavior of the dog is, where you can walk (river or beach) and what’s special about each dog.

Then we got Jude (we’re not sure about the name).  He’s a blind dog and today, he has got a beautiful home in UK, as he has been adopted by a former volunteer.

We had a lot of fun with this little cutie! He was so lovely and was happy about some variety.

HAPPY CAT HOUSE

Das Happy Cat House ist das zu Hause für die süßen Katzen. Hier hat man die Möglichkeit mit den Katzen zu spielen, sie zu knuddeln und ihnen einfach eine Freude zu machen.

Auch die Katzen können adoptiert werden.

For all the cat friends out there – the happy cat house it the home of a lot of cute cats.

Here you have the possibility to play with the cuties, to cuddle them and just have some fun. Also the cats can be adopted!

Lanta Animal Welfare

Die Organisation „Lanta Animal Welfare“ bietet Straßenhunden und –katzen ein zu Hause, eine liebevolle Betreuung und medizinische Versorgung.

Mit über 8.000 getätigten Kastrationen und derzeit um die 100 Hunden und Katzen, ist LAW eine wichtige Institution für das Wohl der Tiere auf Koh Lanta.

LAW finanziert sich ausschließlich durch Spenden und einem kleinen Restaurant auf Koh Lanta (indem man unglaublich gut isst). Die Finanzierung ist natürlich immer sehr schwierig, da die Tiere Versorgung, Fressen und Betreuung brauchen.

Neben der Betreeung der Tiere, nehmen die Ärzte und Helfer auch immer wieder Kastrationen an verschiedenen Standorten vor, um die Situation der Straßentiere wenigstens ein wenig in den Griff zu bekommen.

Lanta Animal Welfare

The organization „Lanta Animal Welfare“ offers a home, a lovely support and a medical care for the street dogs and cats.

With over 8.000 performed castrations and about 100 dogs and cats at LAW, it is a really important institution for the care of the animals on Koh Lanta.

LAW is funded entirely by donations and gets financial support from the restaurant „Time for Lime„, which belongs to the organization (although it is very very good to eat there!).

The financing is always difficult, as the animals need food, medical care and the care of the volunteers.

Besides all this, from time to time the doctors and helping hands do castrations at various places, to improve the situation of the animals on the streets just a little.

Zusätzlich organisieren sie auch die Adoptionen und helfen dabei, die Tiere in die jeweiligen Länder zu transportieren.
Es werden laufend „Flight Volunteers“ gesucht, die die Tiere dann einfach am Flughafen betreuen und auf die Reise zu ihrem „Forever Home“ begleiten.

Und natürlich nicht zu vergessen: Es gibt jeden Tag Führungen, bei denen man das ganze Gelände anschauen kann und sieht, wie die Tiere leben.

Additionally they also organize the adoptions and help to bring the adopted animals to their new countries.

They are constantly looking for „Flight Volunteers“, who care for the animals on the airport and take them for the journey to their forever home!

And not to forget: Everyday there are „tours“ around the area too see how the animals are living.
